History

In/Words Magazine & Press was founded in 2001 by Professor Collett Tracey and a team of her students. It started as a magazine and has since evolved into a small press that publishes chapbooks and issues of innovative literary work. In the past, sister publications such as The Moose & Pussy and Mot Dit (both no longer operating) have run alongside In/Words.

In/Words has had a phenomenal history of giving now-established writers some of their first breaks, including past editors as Ben Ladouceur, Peter Gibbon, Bardia Sinaee, Avonlea Fotheringham, Chris Johnson, Jenna Jarvis, Cameron Anstee, Dave Currie, David Emery, Matt Jones, Amanda Besserer, Leah Mol, Justin Million, Jeremy Hanson-Finger and others. Additionally, In/Words has published early work from JC Bouchard, Jeff Blackman, Marilyn Irwin, JM Francheteau, Salvatore Difalco, Suzanna Derewicz and many more.
