A quick thank you to everyone who visited us at the Small Press Book Fair, especially to Jam Jar who including us in their wonderful review of the event. It was a great day with great people, and we were happy to launch a new chapbook, Hardly A Whimper, Barely A Groan by Aidan Cullis.
Aidan Cullis’s poetry presents an interesting look at childhood as a more primitive time in a persons life. “Maybe I’m more of an animal than I’d like to admit,” Cullis states in the opening poem to the collection. Whether her life is surrounded by animals or her upbringing is likened to an animalistic upbringing, the only uncertainty at the end of Hardly A Whimper is if Cullis has ever escaped her primitive past.
Aidan’s chapbook as well as some other new publications will be available at our next Reading Series event on 26 June 2013. This month we will be hosting a great featured reader, Ottawa Hip Hop and Spoken Word poet PrufRock, as well as saying goodbye to one of our editors, Claire Pattison Hunter. We at In/Words wish Claire the best as she jumps across the pond to re-strengthen her accent back in her homeland of Great Britain.
We hope to see everyone at the Reading Series this month, and we humbly thank each and every one of you for your continued support.
